The Mass of Christian Burial, celebrating the life of Alice I. Heid, age 81, of Waite Park, will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday, February 3, at St Wendelin Catholic Church in Luxemburg. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Alice died Saturday at the Quiet Oaks Hospice. There will be a visitation from 4-8:00 PM Monday at the Miller-Carlin Funeral Home in St. Cloud and again after 9:30 AM Tuesday at Mary Hall at St. Wendelin Catholic Church.
Alice was born November 8, 1933 in Freeborn Township to John and Theresa (Tennis) Schmidt. She moved to central Minnesota as a teenager and graduated from Kimball High School. She married Ronald Heid on January 20, 1953. The couple lived in the Luxemburg area all of their married life. They operated the Wildcat Bait Shop in Luxemburg until it closed in 1982. Alice worked as a bookkeeper at The Family Life Bureau and then Hobday and Moberg Eye Surgeons for many years. She was a member of the St. Wendelin Catholic Church and the St. Anne’s Christian Women. Alice was instrumental in forming the St. Wendelin’s Saturday Night Folk Group, the St. Wendelin’s Parish Newsletter and the Parish Council.
She is survived by her children, Marietta (Marvin) Schneider, Jacobs Prairie; Bonnie (Rick) Tucker, Omaha, NE; LuAnn (Mark) Rice, Rice; Sheila (Ronald) Albers, Luxemburg; Rick (Marci) Heid, Luxemburg; Ronald (Patricia) Heid, Jr., Fridley; Tony (KrisTina) Heid, Buffalo; Bill (Lisa) Heid, Fridley; Virginia (Ray) Meyer, Clearwater; Geralyn (Todd) Hurrle, Luxemburg; Rebecca (Joe) Koshiol, Plymouth; 30 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters: Ardella Benson, Prior Lake; Inez (John) Williams, Anaheim, CA; Jean (Jack) Weber, St. Cloud; and sisters-in-law: Verna Schmidt, Sleepy Eye and LaVerne Schmidt, Plymouth.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ron, on February 1, 2001; twin daughters in 1957 and twin grandsons in 1998.
