The Mass of Christian burial, celebrating the life of Ambrose “Amby” O. Stangler, age 82 of Albany, will be 11:00 AM Saturday, October 23, 2010 at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany. Father Julius Boeckerman, OSB will officiate, burial will take place in the parish cemetery following the service. Ambrose passed away peacefully Wednesday morning at Assumption Campus in Cold Spring. Friends may call from 4-9:00 Friday, October 22 and again after 10 AM the day of the service at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany. Parish prayers will be at 5 PM followed by St Joseph’s Cathoic Aid Society and Knight of Columbus praying the rosary at 6 PM at the church in Albany. Arrangements are being made with the Miller-Carlin Brenny Funeral Home in Albany.Ambrose was born July 21, 1928 to John and Eleanora (Stueve) Stangler in Albany. He married Angeline Bloch on June 15, 1955. He served in the Army from 1953 until 1955 fighting in Korea and was active in the Army Reserve for six years following. After his time in the Army, he worked as a farmer for 36 years, and spent 25 years working at Kraft in Albany before retiring in 1991. Ambrose was a member of the Albany Legion, the Albany VFW, St. Joseph’s Society, the Knights of Columbus, and was a Member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church.Ambrose is survived by his wife of 55 years, Angeline Stangler, Albany; his children, Mark (Bonnie) Stangler, Melrose; Gary (Joan) Stangler, Freeport; Keith (Agatha) Stangler, Forest Lake; Bruce (Luanne) Stangler, St. Cloud; Glen (Peggy) Stangler, Farming; Lois Loch (John), Kimball; Janice Zizzo (Eric Firestone) New Orleans; Russel (Lisa) Stangler, Albany; 19 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren his brother and sisters Lorraine Binderim, Wichita, KS; Fran (Joe) Blommel, Albany; Alois (Alice) Stangler, Monticello; and sisters-in-law Theresa Stangler, Albany; Judy Stangler, Albany; and Marcella Stangler, Cold Spring.He is preceded in death by his mother and father John and Eleanora Stangler, his brothers and sisters Magdeline Schmidt, Edmund Stangler, Jerome Stangler, John Stangler, Slyvester Stangler, Rosemary Schmidt, Elmer Stangler, and his brothers and sisters-in-law Joe Schmidt, Lawrence Schmidt, Earl Binderim, and Stephen Mareck. He is also preceded by his daughter-in-law Fran Stangler.
