Mass of Christian burial celebrating the life of Anthony “Tony” Gail will be 11AM Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany. Father Michael Naughton will officiate, and burial will take place at a later date in Leavenworth, Kansas. Tony died peacefully at his home Sunday afternoon surrounded by his family after a hard battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at the Miller-Carlin Brenny Funeral Home in Albany, and again from 10 AM until the time of the service at the church on Wednesday. Parish prayers will take place at 4:30 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home, followed by the Knights of Columbus praying the rosary at 7 PM. Arrangements are being made with the Miller-Carlin Brenny Funeral Home in Albany.Anthony was born August 17, 1939 to Charles and Francis (Theil) Gail in Leavenworth, Kansas. He graduated from Immaculata High School in 1957, and joined the US Navy. After discharge, he attended Kansas City, KS Junior College and the University of Iowa. It was in Iowa City that he began is career with the Veterans Administration. Training programs and management positions took him to fourteen VA facilities in nine states from Chicago, IL to Los Angeles, CA and from Waco, TX to St. Cloud, MN, from where he retired in 1985. On August 10, 1963 he married Mary Ellen Kisker at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Leavenworth, KS. After retirement, they operated a dairy farm north of Albany from 1985 until 1990, when they moved to Avon. In 2002, they opened Neighbor’s BBQ and Smokehouse restaurant in Avon. Tony is a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, a 3rd and 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, and a member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church.Tony is survived by his wife Mary Gail, Avon; his children Pamela (Robert) Braun, Avon; Scott Gail, Spokane, WA; Charles (Kara) Gail, Cottage Grove; and James Gail, Minneapolis. He is also survived by his sisters Virginia (William) Klasinski, Kansas City, MO; Charlotte (Don) Aaron, Leavenworth, KS; and Mary Anne Gail, Easton, KS, his 7 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.He is preceded in death by his mother and father Charles and Francis Gail, and his brother and sister Charles Gail, and Dr.Martha Gail.Memorials preferred to the Coborn Cancer Center of St. Cloud or the Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN.
