Ardell E. Rustad

Age: 83 May 28, 1930 – April 27, 2014 Funeral services celebrating the life of Ardell Elaine Rustad, age 83 of Albany (formerly Grand Rapids) will take place at 1PM, Wednesday, April 30th 2014 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Albany.  Pastor Stephen Cook will officiate, and burial will take place at her family’s cemetery near Ball Bluff on Friday.  Ardell died peacefully with her family by her side Sunday afternoon at Mother of Mercy Nursing home in Albany.  There will be a gathering for friends and family before the service on Wednesday from 11:30AM-1PM at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Albany.  Arrangements are being made with the Miller-Carlin Funeral Home of Albany.Ardell was born May 28, 1930 on a farm near Albany to Paul and Rose (Baggenstoss) Klein.  She grew up working on the farm near Albany, but later moved to the Twin Cities where she met and later married Stanley Rustad on March 28, 1951.  After marriage, the couple moved to a farm near Jacobson where Ardell raised her family and worked in the housekeeping department of the Itasca Memorial Hospital.  She eventually retired in June of 1995.  After Stanley’s death, she sold the farm in Jacobson and moved to Grand Rapids where she lived until recently moving to Albany to be closer to family.  While in the Jacobson area Ardell was a member of the Carmel Lutheran Church where she was also active in Ladies Aide.  While living in Albany, she was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.Ardell is survived by her children Paul (Diane) Rustad, Cohasset; Sandra (Jerry) Rustad, Jacobson; her seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren; and her siblings Doris (Ted) Koehn, Long Prairie; Arlene Landowski, Albany; Beverly (Don) Litchy, Holdingford; Jan Cigelski, Bertha-Hewitt; Carol (Jerry) Rodenwald, Albany; Sharon Lehner, Albany; and Ervin “Billy” Klein, Albany.She is preceded in death by her parents Paul and Rose Klein, her husband Stanley Rustad, and her siblings Alvin, Lloyd, Marvin, Earl, Gerald, Hildegard, Verna, Rose, Irma, Amanda, and Bernice.
