Clara Sowada

Age: 82 February 16, 1928 – August 15, 2010 Funeral services will be 11 AM Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Opole for Clara C. Sowada, age 82 who died Sunday morning at her daughter’s home after a courageous battle with cancer.  Visitation will be from 4-8 PM Tuesday, August 17 at the Miller-Carlin-Brenny Funeral Home in Holdingford and also one hour prior to services Wednesday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Opole.  Burial will be at a later date.Clara was born February 16, 1928 in Holding Township to August & Theresia (Rolfes) Knoll. She married Thomas E. Sowada on June 15, 1954 in St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, St. Francis, MN.  The couple farmed on the family farm for the next 40 years and then moved to Bowlus.  Clara lived in Bowlus until summer 2010 when she moved in with her daughter in Holdingford.  Clara enjoyed bird watching, flowers, going to the casino, and especially her grandchildren.  She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Christian Mothers.Clara is survived by her sons and daughters; Terry Sowada, Holdingford; Steven Sowada, Holdingford; Sandra Henley, Clear Lake; Kenneth (Mary) Sowada, Holdingford; Dean (Krista) Sowada, Holdingford; and brothers and sisters, Sylvester Knoll, York, Maine; Bill (Lorraine) Knoll, Columbia Heights; Ellen Elliott, Rifle, CO; Arlene Lynaugh (Bruce DePew) Mankato; and Joyce (Roman) Kuklok, Holdingford; 12 grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Tom (Nov. 2004), brother, Fred Knoll, sister, Esther Shank, and son-in-law, Paul Henley.
