Age: 83 February 09, 1931 – July 05, 2014 Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Cyril “Alex” Schwalbe, 83, of St. Anna, will be 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Anna.  Father Greg Mastey will officiate and burial will take place in the parish cemetery.  Cyril passed away peacefully in his home late Saturday morning. There will be a visitation from 4:00-8:00 PM Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at the church in St. Anna and again after 10:00 AM Wednesday at the church.  Christian Mothers will pray the rosary at 5:00 PM and Parish Prayers will be at 6:00 PM at the church Tuesday evening. Funeral arrangements are being made with the Miller-Carlin Funeral Home of Albany.Cyril was born on February 9, 1931 to Paul and Teckla (Halama) Schwalbe in Avon.  He grew up with nine siblings on the family farm.  After school, Cyril joined the United States Army and served his country proudly.  He married Shirley Guck on September 15, 1959 in Rice, MN and together they raised seven children.  Cyril was self-employed as a farmer and loved what he did.  He was an avid fisherman who loved telling jokes and cruising around checking the fields on his golf cart.  Cyril enjoyed playing cribbage and horseshoes, working in his vegetable garden, and spending time with his grandkids and his dog Mitzy.  He also liked the time he spent with the Legion guys and being a part of a bowling league and the church choir.  Cyril was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, the Avon American Legion Post #0538, and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Anna.He is survived by his wife Shirley; children Janice (Vernon) Breth, Holdingford; Susan (Leo) Eichers, Bowlus; Mark (Angela) Schwalbe, Chaska; Mike (Michele) Schwalbe, Ham Lake; Thomas Schwalbe, South St. Paul; David (Tania) Schwalbe, Alexandria, VA; Steven (Lisa) Schwalbe, Avon; siblings Alfred (Mary) Schwalbe, Avon; Evelyn Kramek, Detroit, MI; Alma Chiaka, St. Cloud; Doris Evans, St. Cloud; James (Carol) Schwalbe, Coon Rapids; sister-in-law Karen Schwalbe, New Brighton; 15 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and many other family and friends.He is preceded in death by his parents Paul and Teckla and his siblings Joseph Schwalbe, Clara Streit, Irene Jarnot, and Lawrence “Larry” Schwalbe.Memorials preferred to ProLife in lieu of flowers.
