Douglas L. Munneke

Age: 55 July 29, 1955 – December 11, 2010 Funeral services celebrating the life of Douglas L. Munneke, age 55 of St. Cloud, will be 3:00 PM Thursday, December 16 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in St. Cloud.  Pastor Paul Dare will officiate,  burial will be Friday at Ebenezer Lutheran Cemetery in Corsica S.D.  Doug died unexpectedly at his home Saturday from a heart attack.   There will be a visitation from 4-8:00 PM Wednesday at the Miller-Carlin Funeral Home in St. Cloud and again after 2:00 PM Thursday at the church in St. Cloud.  Arrangements are being made by the Miller-Carlin Funeral Home in St. Cloud.Doug was born July 29, 1955 in Vermillion, SD to Dr. Lyle and Alvina (Isakson) Munneke.  He grew up in Clara City, MN .  Doug married Joy Johnson on June 27, 1987.  The couple moved to St. Cloud in 1989.  Doug worked as a Radio Sales Representative for WJON Radio stations, now called Townsquare Media.   He was an avid cribbage player and enjoyed his trips on his Harley Davidson.  Doug was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, a former board member of Tri-County Humane Society, President of the Holy Cross  Lutheran Church council of St. Cloud, The American Cribbage Congress,  a former Director and member of the St. Cloud Harley Davidson Hog Chapter and a former board member of the Independence Center of St. Cloud.Doug is survived by his wife, Joy, St. Cloud;  his mother, Alvina Munneke, Willmar;  his brother, Dwight Munneke, Willmar;  and his sister, Dawn (Ken) Fisch, Willmar.Doug is preceded in death by his father, Dr. Lyle Munneke; his grandparents, Albert & Clara Munneke and Alfred & Helen Isakson; his uncle Lloyd Munneke and his cousins, Rick Larsch and Judy Larsch.In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, St. Cloud; Tri-County Humane Society and the Dr. Lyle Munneke Scholarship Fund: Minnesota Medical Foundation, 200 Oak Street SE Suite 300, Minneapolis MN 55455-2030.
