Edward “Eddie” H. Trettel

Age: 84 June 22, 1926 – October 05, 2010 Mass of Christian burial celebrating the life of Edward “Eddie” H. Trettel, age 84, of Bowlus will be 10:30 AM Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in North Prairie.  Burial will be in the parish cemetery following the service.  Eddie died Thursday morning at the St. Cloud Hospital.  Friends may call from 4-9:30 PM Friday and again Saturday from 9 AM until the time of service at Holy Cross Catholic Church in North Prairie. St. Joseph’s Society will pray at 6:30 PM,  parish prayers are at 7:30 PM immediately followed by Knights of Columbus St. Gregory the Great Council Number 12604 Office of the Dead Prayer at the church.  Arrangements are being made with the Miller-Carlin Brenny Funeral Home in Holidingford.Eddie was born on the farm in Two Rivers Township to Leonard & Agnes (Schelonka) Trettel where he attended Country School in North Prairie, MN until 8th Grade.  He married Regina Posch on September 13, 1960 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Opole and together worked on the family farm.  He worked at Polar Tank Trailer for over 20 years.  Also during that time he established Eddie Trettel’s Tire Repair.  He would drop everything to fix a tire or help a friend and have a cold one after.  He celebrated every day life especially with family and anyone who stopped in.  They may have been strangers when they first met but were friends when they left.  He touched so many lives with his kindness and smile.  Eddie enjoyed witching wells, chocolate, dancing and was a faithful KASM listener – especially the Rosary.  He cared for his family and loved his grandchildren.  Eddie was the Two Rivers Township Supervisor and Treasurer for many years.  He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and St. Joseph’s Society.Eddie is survived by his wife of 50 years, Regina, Bowlus; his daughters, Joan (Jayson) Strusz, Bowlus; Jane (Doug) Popp, Royalton; 8 grandchildren, Stephen, Susie, Stephanie, Thomas, Lucy, and Juliana Strusz, Emily, and Nicholas Popp, and sisters, Verena Opatz, Little Falls; and Lorene (Pete) Prokott, Upsala.He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Regina Klimek, and brother-in-law Joe Klimek.
