Eileene G. Shabel

Age: 76 January 19, 1938 – March 23, 2014 Mass of Christian burial celebrating the life of Eileene Gertrude Shabel, age 76 of Grey Eagle will take place at 11AM Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Upsala.  Father John Odero will officiate, and burial will take place in the parish cemetery following the mass.  Eileene died unexpectedly at her home in Grey Eagle Sunday morning.  There will be a one hour gathering prior to the service Wednesday morning at the church.  Arrangements are being made with the Miller-Carlin Funeral Home of Upsala.Eileen was born January 19th 1938 in Moran Township in Todd County to Floyd and Gertrude (Cordie) Judd.  She graduated from Little Falls High School.  After high school, she spent some time in Holdingford before moving to the cities.  During her time in the cities is where she married Erwin Shabel in 1957.  She lived in Columbia Heights where she worked as a mother and home-maker.  She also volunteered as a cook in an elementary school cafeteria, worked for Target for nearly ten years, and also managed her sons band from the mid seventies to the eighties.  Most of all, Eileene loved spending time with her family and her dogs.Eileene is survived by her children Mike (Laurie) Shabel, Grey Eagle; Dan Shabel, Little Falls; Debra Shabel, Columbia Heights; Linda (Tim) Ryan, Brooklyn Park; her five grandchildren; and her siblings Delana (Angelo) Smeija, Hackensack; Elaine (Ken) Hagen, Golden Valley; Mary Ann Hines, St. Cloud; Elizabeth (Bob) Haranahan, Little Falls.She is preceded by her mother and father Floyd and Gertrude Judd, her husband Erwin Shabel who passed in 1995 and her brother Charles Judd.
