Age: 85 August 11, 1926 – November 09, 2011 The Mass of Christian Burial, celebrating the life of Elmer L. Popp, age 85, of Holdingford, will be 10:30 AM, Saturday November 12, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Opole.  Fr. Ken Popp will officiate, burial will be in the parish cemetery. Elmer died peacefully at his home on Wednesday.  There will be a visitation from 4-8:00 PM Friday and again after 9:30 AM Saturday at the church in Opole.  Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish prayers will be at 5:00 PM, Friday at the church.  Arrangements are being made by the Miller-Carlin-Brenny Funeral Home in Holdingford.Elmer was born August 11, 1926 in Rice.  He served in the U.S. Merchant Marine during WWII.  After the war, he returned to Rice, where he met Bernadine Grebinoski at Bienick’s Grocery.  He and Bernadine were married on June 5, 1951 in Opole.  The couple moved to their farm near Buckman where they lived for 15 years, moving back to the Opole area in 1966.  After retiring from farming, Elmer  worked for Prairie Farms Potato Harvest, Klaphake Fertilizer and he enjoyed his yard care business.  He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church and the Rice American Legion. Elmer enjoyed family, friends, bingo, cards and gardening.Elmer is survived by his children; Diane (Fritz) Yamry, Nevis; Roger (Gail) Popp, Holdingford; Jim (Sharon) Popp, Pierz; Denae (Pete) Hlebain, St. Stephen; Kimberly Popp (John Macho), Lakeville; and Amy (Ryan) Soltis, St. Cloud. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters; Ernest (Delores) Popp, Rice; Harold (Valarie) Popp, Florida; Robert (Alma) Popp, Rice; Sr. LeRose Popp, OSF, Little Falls; Joanne (Adolph) Zistl, St. Stephen; Johnelle (Doug) Novak, Foley; son-in-law, Bill Iliffe, HI and  15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.Elmer is preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Rose Popp, his wife Bernadine on November 3, 2009, his daughter, Lisa Iliffe on October 28, 2011, and his brothers and sisters, Roman Popp, Marvin Popp, Wilfred Popp, Arthur Popp, Leo Popp, JR; Leona Kasella; Marion Kasella; Rita Kloss, Coreen Gardner, and Roselyn Huver.
