The mass of Christian Burial, celebrating the life of Evelyn Luethmers, age 92 of Albany, will be 11:00 AM Thursday, May 14 at the St. Anthony Catholic Church in St. Anthony. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Evelyn died Sunday at the Mother of Mercy Nursing home, surrounded by her family, in Albany. There will be a visitation from 4-8:00 PM Wednesday and again after 9:30 AM Thursday at the Miller-Carlin Funeral Home in Albany. St. Anthony parish prayers will be at 4:00 PM followed by the Christen Mothers at 7:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home in Albany.
Evelyn was born May 6, 1923 in Albany to August and Josephine (Korte) Kohorst. She married Clemens Luethmers on June 27, 1944 in Albany. Evelyn worked at St. Cloud State University for over 21 years. She loved her Sunday gatherings with her family, making chicken, dressing and homemade goodies. She also enjoyed playing cards. Her most precious thing was her family. She blessed them with beautiful homemade quilts. Evelyn was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church and the St. Anthony Christian Mothers.
Evelyn is survived by her children, Ben (Jeanette) Luethmers, Freeport; John (Mary) Luethmers, Albany; Linus (Pat) Luethmers, Albany; Don (Linda) Luethmers, Delano; Ronald (Mary Kay) Luethmers, Avon; Ann (Steve) Wenker, Royalton; Josephine (Neil) Neuwirth, Albany; Les Luethmers, Albany and Mary (Randy) Klasen, Albany. She is also survived by her 26 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren and her sister, Emma Voit, Albany.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clemens; her brothers, Clem, Joe, Ervin Kohorst and her sisters, Catherine Shay, Marie Viere, Gert Wohletz, Ursula Shay, Rose Wensman, Dorothy Kohorst, Veronica Klassen and Theodora Kohorst.
