Irene L. Pierskalla

Age: 85 July 03, 1929 – March 27, 2015 Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Irene Pierskalla, 85, of St. Wendel will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at St. Columbkille Catholic Church in St. Wendel.  Father David Grundman will officiate and burial will be the parish cemetery.  Irene passed away at Mother Of Mercy in Albany on Friday afternoon.  There will be a visitation from 4:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Miller-Carlin Funeral Home of Albany and again after 10:00 AM until the time of the service Wednesday at the church.  Rosary will be prayed by Christian Mothers at 7:00 PM and Parish prayers will be at 7:30 PM. Arrangements are being made with Miller-Carlin Funeral Home of Albany. Irene was born on July 3, 1929 to Catherine (Gerads) and Stephen Breth in Krain Twp. MN.  She grew up and attended school in St. Anthony.  She worked in the laundry department at St. Cloud Hospital.  She met Ernest Pierskalla at a dance at the St. Wendel Ballroom; they got engaged on Valentine’s Day and were married that same year on September 13, 1955, and the couple made their home in St. Wendel.  Irene was a proud homemaker and loved gardening.  She was an active member of St. Columbkille Catholic Church and its Christian Mothers. After living most of her life in St. Wendel, she moved to Albany to live at the Mother of Mercy Nursing Home. Irene is survived by her three sons; Lloyd, Martin, and Elmer Pierskalla, all of Avon; and a daughter, Gerrie (Lee) Komis, Avon. Three grandchildren; Jennifer, Blake, and Michaela; a brother, Stephen “Butch” Breth, Jr., St. Anthony; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ernie in 2013; a sister, Dorain Layton; and four brothers: Werner, Herb, Martin, and Reinhard Breth.
