Irene V. (Olmscheid) Schwinghammer, 94, of Waite Park, passed away peacefully March 18, 2021. Irene was born in New Munich, MN, on November 16, 1926, to Peter and Elizabeth (Mundloch) Olmscheid. She is survived by daughters Glennis Anderson, Jeannie Breeding, Karen Speeter (Richard), sons Allen and Kris Schwinghammer (Stacey), grandchildren Lisa Speeter Diessner (Peter), Mark Speeter (Crystal), Ashley Schwinghammer, and Aaron Steele, great-grandchildren Gianna, Grayden, Milara, and Jordana Diessner, Isabelle, Judah, and Eden Speeter. Irene is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, three sisters, and former husband Raphael (Ray). Irene spent her formative years in Cold Spring and resided many years in St. Cloud and Waite Park. Irene was famous for her Christmas cookies, coffee cake (kuchen), applesauce, as well as her special talent for growing flowers and decorating her house inside and out. In early years, Irene enjoyed golfing at the St. Cloud Country Club, playing bridge, and volunteering at school. She enjoyed getting together with her family and she was most proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Services will be held Saturday July 24, 2021, at 11:00 am, with visitation starting at 10:30 am, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church; 106 7 th Ave N, Waite Park, MN 56387. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Miller-Carlin Funeral Homes.
