Josephine M. Johannes

Age: 94 May 10, 1916 – October 01, 2010 Mass of Christian burial celebrating the life of Josephine M. Johannes, age 94, of Holdingford will be Tuesday October 5, 2010 at 10:30 AM at our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Opole.  Burial will take place following the service in the parish cemetery.  Friends may call from 4-8 PM on Monday October 4, 2010 and again after 9:30 AM Tuesday morning at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church.  Christian Mothers will pray at 6:00 and parish prayers will be at 7:00 at the church.  Josephine died Friday morning at home surrounded by her family.  Arrangements are being made with the Miller-Carlin Brenny Funeral Home in Holdingford.Josephine was born May 10, 1916 in rural Avon to John and Marie (Fandel) Maile.  She married Leonard Johannes on August 17, 1936 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Avon.  After marriage she lived in St. Nicholas until 1942 when she moved to Opole where she spent the rest of her life.  Josephine was a loving mother of eleven children and was truly the most caring person in the world.  She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Opole and was a member of Christian Mothers.Josephine is survived by her children Kenneth Johannes, Cold Spring; Kathleen (Jerome) Ebnet, Holdingford; Delores (Martin) Pilarski, Avon; LeRoy (Theresa) Johannes, Avon; Allen (Donna) Johannes, Holdingford; Arnold (Kay) Johannes, Spout Springs, VA; Marion Mader, Sartell; Gerald (Carol) Johannes, Holdingford; Diana (Dennis) Yorek, Albany; Alverna (Myron) Voss, West Haven, UT; Kevin (Pam) Johannes, Holdingford.  She is also survived by her 44 grandchildren, 80 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and her sisters-in-law Clara Maile and Sally Maile.She is preceded in death by her husband Leonard who passed away January 12, 2002, her grandsons Timothy Johannes and Glen Pilarski, daughter-in-law Jeanette Johannes, and son-in-law Robert Mader.  She is also preceded in death by her brothers John, Mike, Arnold, Peter, Nicholas, Anton, and Joseph Maile, her sisters, Mary Senart, Lena (Senart) Johannes, Ida Scharf, and Betty Meier.
