Judith Ann Fischer

Age: 68 January 10, 1944 – June 30, 2012 Some bright morning when this life is over, I’ll fly away…Services celebrating the life of Judith Ann Fischer, age 68, of St. Cloud will be at 11 AM on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at Salem Lutheran Church in St. Cloud.  Pastor Kristen Andersen will officiate, and burial will take place at a later date.  There will be a visitation from 4-8 PM on Monday, July 2, 2012 at the Miller-Carlin Funeral Home Chapel in St. Cloud and again after 10:00 AM until the time of service on Tuesday at the church.  Arrangements are being made with the Miller-Carlin Funeral Home in St. Cloud.Judith (Judy) Ann Fischer, nee Westhoff, 68, of St. Cloud died peacefully the morning of June 30thafter a battle with cancer.  She will be dearly missed.  Our grief in having lost her is only overshadowed by the joy of the memories of our life with her.Judy was born to William and Lydia (Schmidt) Westhoff on January 10, 1944, in Minneapolis, MN – the youngest of 9 children.  She spent her childhood in Burkhardt, WI, and SE Minneapolis.  She was a 1962 graduate of Marshall High School, where she proudly sang as a member of the all-state choir.  She later graduated from Minneapolis Vocational College.Judy met Gene Fischer in 1965.  They shared a love of dancing and old-time music.  They were married on October 7, 1967, and raised four children together, mostly in Princeton and Pierz, MN.  In addition to managing her busy family, Judy worked for the National Labor Relations Board and St. Cloud Area Legal Services during her career in the secretarial field.  She also volunteered extensively for the American Red Cross and the Stearns County Historical Society.As an avid sewer, knitter, and reader, Judy was always creating and had an interesting book to talk about.  Judy was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in St. Cloud, where she was a member of the quilting group and book club.  Her children are especially grateful for the cookies and Swedish tea rings she baked so well, the pajamas and mittens she bestowed upon her grandchildren, and the extensive family history she gave each of them.Judy is survived by her husband, Gene Fischer; her children Heidi (John) Koski of Minneapolis, Shelly (Jody) Nelson of Pierz, Tom (Jayne) Fischer of Duluth, and Bill (Melonie) Fischer of Lino Lakes; Reed (Theresa) Sprung of Center City; grandchildren,  Cole, Greta, Sam, Brady, Henry, Jody, Matt and Elizabeth; Jake and Shawna; and siblings, Harold (Ardis) Westhoff, Ruth (Allan) Beer, Marjorie (Richard) Batten, Mary Jo (Boris) Pylatiuk, and Renee Westhoff.  There are also many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Lydia Westhoff; brothers Fred and Robert Westhoff; sister Lucille.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Red Cross, Stearns County Historical Society or the American Cancer Society are preferred.
