Age: 93 May 12, 1917 – July 05, 2010   COLOR PICTURE VIA E MAIL ALBANY   LEONA BERSCHEID GASPERLIN May 12, 1917 – July 5, 2010 The Mass of Christian Burial, celebrating the life of Leona Berscheid Gasperlin, age 93 of St. Francis will be 11:00 AM Thursday, July 8 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in St. Francis.  Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Leona died Monday at the Mother of Mercy Nursing Home.   Friends may call after 9:00 AM Thursday at the church in St. Francis.  Arrangements are being made by the Miller- Carlin–Brenny Funeral Home in Albany. Leona was born May 12, 1917 in Holdingford to Michael and Eva (Loehlein) Greener She married Raymond Berscheid on January 26, 1942 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Holdingford.  They farmed east of St. Francis until Raymond’s death in 1967.  Leona worked at the Holdingford High School until 1974.  She married Erivn Gasperlin on July 27, 1974.  They resided in North Branch for a few years before they moved to St. Anthony.  After Ervin’s death in 2004, she moved into assisted living. Leona is a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church, a 50 year member of St. Francis Christian Mothers, a member of the Senior Citizens and Mission Circle. Leona is survived by her children, David Berscheid, Albany; Janet (Roger) Gerads, Albany; Mike (Bonnie) Berscheid, Holdingford; Patrick Berscheid, Holdingford; her brother and sisters, Albert (Bernice) Greener, Albany; Bernice Sitzman, Laporte, TX; Beatrice Douvier, Melrose, 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.  Leona is also survived by her sister-in-laws, Hildegarde Nelson, Milaca; Barbara (Werner) Breth, Albany, Alvina Meier, Albany and six step-children. Leona is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Raymond Berscheid on August 23, 1967, her second husband, Ervin Gasperlin on December 14, 2004; her twin sister, Eleanor Christen, her sisters, Marion Roell and Marcella Mallard, and her brothers, Conrad Greener, Roman Greener, Edward Greener and one great-grandson, Payton Gerads.
