Funeral Services celebrating the life of Marcella Gertrude Fuchs, age 96 of Sauk Rapids (formerly Avon) will be 11AM, Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home Chapel in Sauk Rapids. Father Al Stangl will officiate, and a private family burial will take place at a later date at the St. Benedict’s Cemetery in Avon. Marcella died peacefully Saturday morning with her family at her side. There will be a one hour gathering prior to the service Tuesday morning at the chapel. Arrangements are being made with the Miller-Carlin Funeral Home of St. Cloud.Marcella was born July 26, 1917 to Christian and Agnes (Kramer) Mader in Greenwald, MN where she spent the first 16 years of her life. She worked as a waitress in Greenwald, West Union, the Melrose Hotel, and then finally the Albany Hotel where she met the love of her life, Peter. She married Peter John Fuchs on August 17, 1939 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church Greenwald. Marcella and Pete owned the Blacksmith Shop in Avon until after WWII when they built and operated Pete’s Bait Shop in Avon for the next 20 plus years. After retiring, Marcella dedicated many enjoyable hours to quilting with friends at St. Benedict’s parish and the Avon City Hall. She loved knitting afghans, sweaters, and slippers. Marcella also enjoyed traveling, being outdoors, and also had quite the knack for dancing. After her husband’s passing in 2003, Marcella moved to Sauk Rapids where she lived the rest of her life. Marcella will be forever remembered as an amazing, funny, and inspiring Mother. Marcella is survived by her children Russell (wife, Jeanne) Fuchs, Sauk Rapids; and Roxanne (husband, Dick) Wrast, Nixa, MO; her four grandchildren, Christopher (wife, Aleen) Fuchs; Jenny (husband, Christopher) Wrast Oakley; Sarah (husband, Andy) Fuchs Berg; Jon (wife, Whitney) Wrast; her two great-grandchildren, Megan and Benjamin Berg; and her sister Valeria Braun, Sauk Centre.She is preceded in death by her parents Agnes and Christian Mader, her husband Peter Fuchs, her son Roger Fuchs, and her brothers Elmer and Stanley Mader.We ask that you celebrate her life, not mourn her leaving. We will mourn the loss we feel, but will celebrate her being with her heavenly father. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association on Minnesota.
