Martin “Marty” Joseph Sundvall

Age: 46 December 12, 1965 – May 13, 2012 Services celebrating the life of Marty Sundvall, age 46 of St. Cloud will be 7 PM, Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Miller-Carlin Funeral Home of St. Cloud.  Marty died unexpectedly at his home early Sunday morning.  There will be a visitation from 4 PM until the time of the service Thursday, May 17th at the Miller-Carlin Funeral Home in St. Cloud.Marty was born on December 12, 1965 to Frank and Irene (Smolz) Sundvall in St. Cloud.  He grew up in Hibbing, leaving after high school to move to St. Cloud for college.  His passion was sports journalism and he worked from the St. Cloud Times before teaching in the Mass Communications department at St. Cloud State.  Marty was a fixture within the SCSU community, due to his active involvement with KVSC, the Chronicle, and the Husky Hockey team.   Marty enjoyed sports, gathering with friends over poker or football drafts and will be most remembered for his infectious giggle.Marty is survived by his mother, Irene Sundvall, Hibbing; his brother, Scott (Kristen) Sundvall, Hibbing; his niece and nephew, Hunter and Ethan, Hibbing; and many friends.He is preceded in death by his father, Frank Sundvall, in 2003.
