Age: 89 March 20, 1921 – September 18, 2010 Mass of Christian burial celebrating the life of Mary Amanda Botz Vos, age 89, of Holdingford will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Holdingford.  Father Roger Botz will officiate.  Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at the Miller-Carlin Brenny Funeral Home in Holdingford, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the church.  Parish prayers will take place at 5 p.m. at the funeral home Tuesday.  Mary, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010 in her home surrounded by her family.Mary was born March 20, 1921, in Holdingford to Jacob and Eva Helen (Buttweiler) Botz. She graduated from the College of St. Benedict in 1942 with a degree in dietetics. She interned at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester and then worked as a dietitian at Abbott Hospital in Minneapolis. She returned to Holdingford during WWII to teach high school. She married Norbert Vos on July 6, 1946. Together, Mary and Norb raised seven children. She worked as a dietitian at St. Cloud VA Medical Center until retirement.Mary was the gentle, loving matriarch of the Vos family. She was a talented seamstress and musician, teaching piano for many years.  Mary was a member of the Christian Mothers and St. Mary’s Catholic Church.Mary is survived by her husband, Norbert; children, Susan Vos of Minneapolis, Pat (John) Krueger of Richmond, Peg Vos of Talkeetna, AK, Leo (Margaret) Vos of Foreston; Dan Vos (Barbara Mahoney) of Anchorage, AK; Terri (David) Ellison of Cloquet and KathyVos (Greg Abbott) of North Mankato; grandchildren, Molly, Sarah, Kate, Mark, Jacob, Johanna, Matthew, Ben and Brogan; great grandchildren, Grace and Maya; sister, Jeanette Wander of Richfield.She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Walter, Ernest, and Cyril Botz; sisters, Esther Dyer and Peg Burke.In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society or Albany Area Hospice.
