Mass of Christian burial celebrating the life of Mary L. LaVine, age 83 of Buffalo will be 11AM, Thursday May 5, 2011 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Buffalo. Father David Hennen will officiate, and burial will take place in the parish cemetery following the service. Mary passed away peacefully in her home Sunday afternoon. Friends may call from 4-8 PM, Wednesday May 4, 2011 at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo, and again from 10AM until the time of the service on Thursday at the church. Arrangements are being made with the Miller-Carlin Funeral Home in St. Cloud.Mary was born November 2, 1927 to Henry and Isabelle (Varner) Kalway in Buffalo Township. She grew up and lived nearly her entire life in rural Buffalo until recently moving to Eden Valley, and later Little Falls. She married Jackie Lee LaVine on October 16, 1947. Jackie later passed away on April 28, 2007. Mary worked for the Wright County Journal Press, Kramer’s Coast to Coast of Buffalo, and also raised seven children as a mother and homemaker. After retiring, Mary and Jackie greatly enjoyed traveling where they spent ten winters in Hawaii. Her greatest hobbies in life were African violets and needle work. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Buffalo.Mary is survived by her children, Steven (Arloene) LaVine Sr., Eden Valley; Bruce (Frankie) LaVine, Blaine, WA; Michael (Colleen) LaVine, Elko New Market; Diane (Dean Schultz) LaVine, Faribault; Kathryn (Ron) Loscheider, Little Falls; Barbara (Ronn) Johnson, Stafford, VA; Susan (Steve Cook) Schmidt, Colorado Springs, CO; her sisters Betty (Francis) Quinn, Osseo; Ruth (Ralph) VanBeusekom, Brooklyn Center; Teresa Schlief, Plymouth; her 26 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her mother and father Isabelle and Henry Kalway, her husband Jackie LaVine, her grandson Nicholas LaVine, and her brother-in-law Dale Schlief.
