Age: 84 July 22, 1926 – February 08, 2011 Mass of Christian burial celebrating the life of Maurice R. Smith, age 84 of Sauk Rapids will be 11 AM, Friday February 11, 2011 at Saint Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church in St. Cloud.  Father Christopher Leith will officiate and burial will take place in the St. Stephen parish cemetery in St. Stephen MN following the service.  Maurice died Tuesday morning at the VA Medical Center in St. Cloud.  Friends may call from 4 to 8 PM on Thursday, February 10 at the Miller-Carlin Funeral Home in St. Cloud.  Parish prayers will take place at 5 PM on Thursday.  Arrangements are being made with the Miller-Carlin Funeral Home in St. Cloud.Maurice was born July 22, 1926 to Hugh and Anna (Olson) Smith in Ronneby, MN.  He married Teresa Marie Omann on July 10, 1954 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in St. Cloud.  She later passed away on November 27, 1979.  Maurice worked at the University of Minnesota doing secretarial work, and St. Cloud State University as a chef and a meat cutter.  He also owned and operated a café in Brooten MN.  He spent most of his lifetime living in Sauk Rapids.  He was a member of the East St. Cloud VFW Post 4847 and a lifetime member of the DAV (Disabled American Veterans).Maurice is survived by his brother and sisters-in-law John Korson, Lake Leelanau, MI; Heartha Smith, St. Cloud; and Dorothy Smith, Coon Rapids.He is preceded in death by his mother and father, his wife Teresa, and his brothers and sisters, Rev. Robert Smith, James Smith, Joseph Smith, Frances Legatt, and Anne Korson.The family extends a special thank you to the staff of the St. Cloud Hospital and the VA Medical Center for their exceptional loving care they gave to Maury.
