Merton D. Jones

Age: 83 October 05, 1927 – July 22, 2011 Services celebrating the life of Merton D. Jones, age 83 of Waite Park, will be 11:00 AM Friday, July 29 at the Miller-Carlin Funeral Home Chapel in St. Cloud.  Burial will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls.  Merton died Friday at the St. Cloud Hospital.  Friends may gather after 10:00 AM Friday July 29 at the Miller-Carlin Funeral Home in St. Cloud.Merton was born October 5, 1927 in Fargo ND to James and Clara (Lofstam) Jones.  He grew up in Fargo and entered the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Korean Conflict.  He married Frances Neton on February 21, 1953 in Biloxi, MS.  The couple moved to St. Paul, where Merton worked at 3M.  He retired as a Marketing Manager after 35 years with 3M.  Merton and Frances moved to Walker after he retired and then they moved to Waite Park in 2003.  Music was his lifelong joy.  He remembered all the words and all the tunes.  His favorite was, “I did it my way.Merton is survived by his children, Mike Jones, Snohomish, WA; Pat Jones, Norfolk, VA; and Mary (Grant Thornburg) Jones, Robbinsdale.He is preceded in death by his wife, Frances on August 7, 2008, his sisters, Carol Frolund, Darlene Griffin, and his brother, Herbert Jones.A special thank to Carrol Braseth and the staff of Home Instead.
