Myrtice V. Gordhamer

Age: 82 November 24, 1927 – August 10, 2010 Funeral services celebrating the life of Myrtice V. Gordhamer, age 82, of Avon, formerly of Alexandria; will be Monday, August 16, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Miller-Carlin Brenny Funeral Chapel in Holdingford.  Pastor Sherry Billberg will officiate and burial will take place at Camp Ripley at a later date.  Friends may call from 10 until the time of service Monday morning.  Myrtice passed peacefully Tuesday evening at home surrounded by her family.  Arrangements are being made with the Miller-Carlin Funeral Home in Holdingford.Myrtice was born November 24, 1927 to John and Inger (Peterson) Wick in Sunburg, MN.  She married Robert Gordhamer on February 21, 1946 in Sunburg.  After marriage, the couple lived in Kerkhoven, but spent most of their lives in Alexandria.  In May of 2008, after being diagnosed with cancer, Myrtice moved to Avon.  She and her husband ran a restaurant in Kerkhoven, and she also worked for Montgomery Wards, Singer, and was a department head at Herberger’s.  Myrtice also spent many hours volunteering at Knute Nelson Nursing Home in Alexandria.  She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Alexandria.Myrtice is survived by her daugters Christine Pederson, Avon; Martha Breth, Holdingford; her brother Jim (Sandra) Wick, Sunburg; 4 grand children, and 6 great-grandchildren.She is preceded in death by her husband Robert Gordhamer, who passed away in November of 2004; her brothers Ellsworth and Wenzell Wick; and her son-in-laws Michael Pederson, and David Breth.
