Norbert was born on March 26, 1923 to Theodore and Eleanor (Barthel) Dehn in Anoka, MN. He grew up with ten siblings, attended the local school, and learned how to farm. At 21 years old, Norbert was inducted into the US Navy and proudly served his country until Dec. of 1945, at which time he returned to farming. On September 15, 1951, Norbert married Hellen Thibodeau and they had nine children over the 23 years they spent farming in Anoka. In 1973, they moved to Albany where they continued to farm until his retirement in 1984. He was born and bred into farming and loved what he did. Norbert enjoyed spending time with his family, taking trips to Arizona with Hellen, taking camping trips with his children and later, fishing with his grandkids. He loved fishing and often enjoyed his favorite meal of fresh fish. Norbert was a man of few words, who let his actions speak for themselves. He had a deep faith, was a good listener, and gave sound advice. Most importantly, he loved his family and friends; he would often greet them, or show his appreciation, by offering a kiss on the hand. Norbert was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the Albany American Legion.
Norbert is survived by his children Jeanny (Ken) Nelson, Maple Grove; Joseph (Lisa) Dehn, Anoka; Steve (Joan) Dehn, St. Cloud; Kurt (Sandi) Dehn, Avon; Susan (Ed) Partch, Little Falls; Christeen (Darrel) Notch, Eden Valley; Julie (Jim) Wensmann, Elmdale; Kenneth (Sandy) Dehn, Sauk Rapids; Mary (Todd) Miller, St. Cloud; his siblings Lila Kalinoski, Norene Dehn, Delores (Alex) DeMars, James (Bernie) Dehn, Margaret Dehn, Rita Pouliot, Helen Bongaarts, Marie Picotte, Ronald (Marie) Dehn; his 25 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; as well as other family and friends.
He is greeted in Heaven by his dear Hellen, his parents Theodore and Eleanor, his grandson Jordan Wensmann and great-granddaughter Liberty Wilson, his brothers Harold, Gordy, and Leroy, his sister and brother-in-law Leora (Howard) Lahn, and his brothers-in-law Gordy Bongaarts, Roger Picotte and Donald Pouliot.
