Age: 73 November 10, 1936 – March 26, 2010 Peter “Pete” Gaida, 73 Holdingford Nov. 10, 1936-March 26, 2010A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Peter “Pete” Gaida, age 73 of Holdingford will be 11 AM Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church, Holdingford.  Burial will be in the parish cemetery.  Pete died Friday at home after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his family.  Friends may call from 4-8 PM Monday and after 10 AM Tuesday at the Miller-Carlin-Brenny Funeral Home in Holdingford.  Parish prayers will be 5 PM followed by Holdingford Legion Post #211 & Sauk Rapids VFW Post #6992 praying at 6:30 PM Monday at the funeral home in Holdingford.Pete was born in St. Cloud to Peter & Rose (Betz) Gaida.  He married Elizabeth “Betty” Schmit on April 25, 1959 in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, St. Cloud.  Pete enlisted in the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1962.  He was a foundry worker for DeZurik before retiring in 1993.  Pete was a member of the Holdingford Legion Post #211, Sauk Rapids VFW Post #6992, Allied Workers Local #63B, and St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church.  Pete enjoyed horseshoes, fishing, going to the casino and especially spending time with his family on the deck.Pete is survived by his wife of 50 years, Betty, Holdingford; 3 children, Bill (Nita), Cold Spring; Joyce (Neil) Ebnet, & Dave (Betty) all of Holdingford; 10 grandchldren, 4 great-grandchildren; 3 siblings, Loyola Lardy, St. Cloud; Bob Gaida, Cold Spring; & Mary Ann Sauer, St. Peter.He was preceded in death by his parents, and 7 siblings, Josephine Spaeth, Gen Cota, Delores Steichen, Dan Gaida, Joanne Wander, Rosie Jex, & Marge Helgeson Schedule and Information Visitation Details Friends may call from 4-8 PM Monday and after 10 AM Tuesday at the Miller-Carlin-Brenny Funeral Home in Holdingford.
