She married Edmund “Eddie” Krych on June 27, 1944 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Opole. She lived her entire life in the Holdingford area where she raised their five children and worked hard on the farm with Eddie. In their early years as a couple, Rita and Eddie loved frequenting social events such as neighbor’s house parties, dance halls, and card parties. They were also known for being quite the polka dancers. Besides being a mother and home-maker on the farm, Rita shared her gifts as a cook with the Holdingford School and St. Johns University. She also worked for Monaco Lens in St. Stephen. Rita found great joy in serving people. Hospitality was in her blood. She was known to open her house to family, friends, and visitors and saw to it that they would leave her house with a full stomach and a smile on their face. She was always ready for visitors with homemade goods such as her fresh breads, canned goods, Polish coffee cakes, and when in season, her wonderfully decorated Santa faced Christmas cookies. She also had a great love of the outdoors which she put into creating her beautiful large gardens of flowers and vegetables over the years. A quality that her family will never forget was her ability to recall nearly any date. She wouldn’t let a birthday, anniversary, or special day go un-noticed without a phone call or card.
