The Mass of Christian Burial, celebrating the life of Robert “Bob” Herges, age 58, of St. Cloud will be 11:00 AM, Friday, October 26, 2018 at the St. Mary’s Cathedral Church in St. Cloud. Burial will take place at the Assumption Cemetery immediately following the service. Bob passed away peacefully Friday morning, October 19, 2018 at his home in St. Cloud after a courageous battle with cancer. There will be St. Mary’s parish prayers beginning at 4:00 PM along with a visitation from 4-8:00 PM Thursday, October 25, 2018 at the Miller-Carlin Funeral Home in St. Cloud and again at 9:30-10:30 AM Friday at the Funeral Home prior to Mass.
Bob was born July 9, 1960 in Faribault, Minnesota to Paul and Rita (Kolb) Herges. The family eventually moved to St. Cloud where Bob graduated from Technical High School. He became a real estate agent and broker and worked with the Gallery of Homes and then became co-owner of Coldwell Banker Herges Realty. The Herges family sold their real estate business to Edina Realty where Bob continued his career helping families find their dream homes for 35 years. Additionally, Bob developed land and built and sold houses within multiple housing additions in St. Cloud, Waite Park, and St. Joseph, MN and in Dickinson, ND. Bob married Renee Klein on January 21, 1989 in St. Mary’s Cathedral and had one son, Jacob, age 23. The family lived in St. Cloud, then on the Chain of Lakes in Cold Spring for 11 years prior to moving back to St. Cloud in 2014. Bob was especially appreciated for his fun and witty sense of humor. He loved boating, good music, St. Cloud State College Hockey, and his real passion tennis. Bob was a member of the St. Cloud Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors. He is also a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Bob is survived by his wife, Renee Klein-Herges, St. Cloud; his son, Jacob Herges, Minneapolis; his brothers and sisters, John (Mary) Herges, St. Cloud; Fred (Linda Erb) Herges, Sartell; Julie (Titus) Calasanz, Houston, TX; Patty (Robin) Stomberg, Blackduck and Heidi (Kevin) Hall, Clearwater.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Rita Herges, his father-in-law, Donald Klein and his sister-in-law, Patty Klein.
The Herges family would like to say a special thank you to the staff at CentraCare Home Care & Hospice, St. Cloud Ear, Nose & Throat Clinic, and the Mayo Clinic for the outstanding care they gave Bob.
The family has designated The American Cancer Society for memorial contributions.
