Robert “Bob” John Thelen

Age: 87 March 11, 1927 – December 30, 2014 Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Robert John Thelen, 87, of Albany will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany.  Bob passed away at Mother of Mercy Nursing Home surrounded by his family on Tuesday morning.  Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 PM on Friday, January 2, 2015 at the Miller-Carlin Funeral Home in Albany and again after 10:00 AM Saturday at the church.  Seven Dolors parish prayers will be at 4:00 PM and the Albany Fire Department will pray the rosary at 7:00 PM Friday evening at the funeral home in Albany. Bob was born on March 11, 1927 to Joseph and Anna (Haehn) Thelen in St. Martin.  He married Dolores Ebensteiner on June 13, 1951, they settled in the Albany area.  Bob spread his musical talents throughout the area playing in many bands.  He worked at Gretch Chevrolet until he and his son, Terry, started Thelen’s Service Center and Thelen Motorhome Rental in Albany.  He was a member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church and a former member of the Albany Fire Department. Bob is survived by his daughters Shirley (Larry) Moser, Albany and Sandy (Brian) Pflipsen, St. Joe; daughter-in-law Lois Thelen, Albany; brothers and sisters Estelle (Val) Schwinghammer, Avon; Mark (Evelyn) Thelen, St. Martin; Karleen (Ray) Tomsche, Albany; Virginia Thelen, Sartell; Joey (Renee) Thelen, St. Martin; sisters-in-law Marion Thelen, Arlene (William) Green, Roseann (LeRoy) Hemmesch; grandchildren; Amanda, Ben, Bob, Melissa, Carrie, Rachel, Adam, Jordan, Candace, and great-grandchildren; Isaac, Addison, Autumn and Jack. He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Anna, his wife Dolores in 2007, his son Terry in 2008, and his brothers; Fred Thelen, Leon Thelen, and Cliff Thelen.
