Roman J. Pierskalla

Age: 80 February 27, 1933 – August 22, 2013 Mass of Christian burial celebrating the life of Roman Joseph Pierskalla, age 80 of St. Cloud will take place at 10AM Monday, August 26th at St. Columbkille Catholic Church in St. Wendel.  Father Gregory Mastey will officiate and burial will take place in the St. John’s Cemetery in Krain Township following the mass.  Roman died peacefully at the St. Cloud Hospital surrounded by his family Thursday morning.  There will be a visitation for Roman from 4-8PM Sunday, August 25th at St. Columbkille Catholic Church in St. Wendel and again from 9AM until the time of the service Monday morning at the church.  Arrangements are being made with the Miller-Carlin Funeral Home of St. Cloud.Roman was born February 27th 1933 to Leopold and Sophie(Dobis) Pierskalla on the family farm in St. Wendel.  He grew up in St. Wendel but eventually moved to Chicago for school where he married Louise Ernst on September 11, 1954.  The couple lived in Chicago for nearly 15 years before moving back to Minnesota when they purchased the family farm in St. Wendel.  Louise later died on July 7th 2000.  Roman later married Rosemarie Jackels-Laudenbach and moved to St. Cloud where he lived the rest of his life.  Roman worked a variety of careers in his life including a Hospital Lab Tech while in Chicago, a construction worker, and most recently was in charge of the infirmary at the St. Cloud Reformatory which he retired from in 1995.  Roman had a great love of the outdoors.  Some of his favorite activities included golfing, hunting, and fishing.  Roman was a member of St. Columbkille Catholic Church in St. Wendel.Roman is survived by his wife Rosemarie Laudenbach, St. Cloud; his children Roman (Linda Gustafson) Pierskalla Jr., Buffalo; Karen (Bob) Pogatschnik, Cold Spring;  Peggy (Dan) Kerestes, Stafford, VA; Mike (Rebecca) Pierskalla, Avon; his step-children, Mary Jo (Richard) Paulson, St. Cloud; John (Janet) Laudenbach, Long Lake; Steve (Margaret) Laudenbach, Coon Rapids; Ron (Stephi) Laudenbach, Spokane Valley, WA; Mark Laudenbach, South Haven; Joe (Jill) Laudenbach, Ramsey; Joyce (David) Engberg, St. Augusta; his seven grandchildren, 17 step-grandchildren, 4 step-great-grandchildren; and his siblings Leander (Marie) Pierskalla, Avon; and Tina Erickson, Minneapolis.He is preceded in death by his parents Leo and Sophie Pierskalla, his wife Louise Pierskalla, and his siblings Delores and Sylvester Pierskalla.
