Age: 78 August 28, 1931 – October 15, 2009 ROMAN F. MEITZAugust 28, 1931 – October 15, 2009The Mass of Christian Burial, celebrating the life of Roman F. Meitz, age 78 of Albany will be 11:00 AM Monday, October 19 at the Church of the Seven Dolors in Albany.  There will be a visitation after 10:00 AM Monday at the church.  Burial will be in the St. Benedict=s Parish Cemetery in Avon.  Roman died Thursday at the Albany Area Hospital surrounded by his family.  Arrangements are being made by the Miller-Carlin-Brenny Funeral Home.Roman was born August 28, 1931 in Minneapolis to Roman and Gladys (Heeney) Meitz.  He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 until 1953.  He attended business school and began his career with Sears Roebuck Company.  Roman married Grace Smith on October 6, 1956 in Avon.  The couple lived in Minneapolis until Roman retired from Sears in 1981 and then they moved to Avon.  After his retirement Roman worked at the Albany Golf Course for 5 years and he was a substitute school bus driver for 9 years.  Roman was also very active as a volunteer for the Albany Area Hospice, he said, And one should ever die alone.  Roman was a member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Avon.Roman is survived by his sister and brothers, Mary (Larry) Winum, Lakeville; Gary (Ruth) Meitz, Minneapolis; and Gregory (Carren) Meitz, Edina.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.Roman is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Grace in 2000.The family would like to give a special thank you to Sherry and all the hospice staff workers.  In Lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Albany Area Hospice.
