Age: 91 August 26, 1922 – March 11, 2014 Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Rose Elizabeth Zimmerman, age 91, of Albany, will be at 11 AM Friday, March 14, 2014 at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany.  Father Cletus Connors, OSB will officiate and burial will take place in the parish cemetery following mass.  Rose passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning at Mother of Mercy Nursing Home. There will be visitation from 4-8 PM Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Seven Dolors Church in Albany and again on Friday after 10 AM until the service at the church.  Parish prayers will be at 4:00 PM Thursday evening at the church.  Arrangements are being made with the Miller-Carlin Funeral Home of Albany.Rose was born on the family farm in Farming Township on August 26, 1922 to John and Angeline (Lodermeier) Rausch.  She had eight siblings and attended a one-room schoolhouse, which she walked to.  After leaving the family farm, Rose moved to Saint Cloud and lived in a boarding house with a few other women while waitressing and working for the war effort during WWII.  She enjoyed dancing and met Edwin Zimmerman, the man she’d marry, at the Granite City Coliseum.  The two were married on June 18, 1949 in Farming and together they raised their two children Alan and Diane in Albany.  Rose enjoyed the outdoors, planting flowers, general yard work, and taking walks.  She is described as a “petite spit of a thing” that loved to eat, especially savoring steak, shrimp, and raspberries or strawberries with cream.  Rose hosted her family gathering at Thanksgiving and will be remembered for her delicious dressing and her love of cooking and baking for her family.  She also was an avid quilter and liked to sew.  Rose enjoyed quiet time spent with puppies and dogs, but treasured the time she gave to her growing family.  She and Edwin loved having the grandchildren for regular visits and had held close those fond memories.  She was a member of the Seven Dolors Christian Mothers, the Legion Auxiliary, and St. Catherine’s Mission Group.  She was an active member of the Seven Dolors Catholic Church.She is survived by her children Alan (Rhonda) Zimmerman, Albany; Diane (Jerry) Raden, Albany; her siblings Jerome (Lorraine) Rausch, Farming; Monica Athman, Waite Park; 2 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchild; as well as many other family and friends.She was preceded in death by her husband Edwin in 1993, her parents John and Angeline Rausch, brothers Leo, Bernard, Norbert, and Raymond Rausch, sisters Veronica Wickersham and Eleanor Rausch, and brother-in-law Herbert Athman.The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the nurses and staff at Mother of Mercy Campus of Care for their amazing care and attention to Rose, as well as their kind words and support to her family.
