Rose Poepping

98 years, 1 month, 2 days September 24, 2018 – October 26, 2018 Rose Poepping passed away on Friday, October 26, 2018 at the CentraCare Health Nursing Home, Melrose, MN at the age of 98 years, 1 month and 2 days. Rose Elizabeth Sand was born September 24, 1920 in Grove Township, MN to Herman B. and Elizabeth (Humbert) Sand.  She grew up on a farm southwest of New Munich. Rose attended elementary school in New Munich through the eighth grade.  She married Anthony Henry Poepping on October 17, 1939 at Immaculate Conception Church in New Munich, Mn. Rose and Tony farmed at New Munich, St Anthony and Spring Hill before semi-retiring and moving to New Munich in 1975.  Rose worked at the Melrose Hospital until her retirement in 1992. Rose was a member of Immaculate Conception parish of New Munich.  She also was a member of St. Leo Ct. #0786 Catholic Order of Foresters. Survivors are four daughters:  Irene (Darrell) Eiden of Coon Rapids, MN, Marlene “Moe” Otte of Sauk Centre, MN, Bernice Nathe of Spring Hill, MN and Toni Koopmeiners of Rosarito, Mexico, 19 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and   9 great-great grandchildren, also her brother Walter (Mildred) Sand (New Munich)  and sisters-in-law Theresia Sand (Richmond), Dorine Sand (Albany) and Erma Poepping (Melrose.) Rose was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 69 years, Anthony on October 16, 2010.  Siblings: Paul Sand, Marie Thull, infant Herman B. Jr, Edwin Sand, Eileen Frielerand  Sylvester Sand.  Sons-In Law: Elmer Otte, Allen Nathe, John Koopmeiners. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 2 at 11 o’clock a.m. at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, New Munich, MN.
