Rosella “Sally” M. Smith

Age: 78 September 26, 1932 – July 28, 2011 Mass of Christian Burial, celebrating the life of Rosella “Sally” Smith, age 78 of St. Cloud, will be 10:30 AM Friday, August 5 at St. Mary’s Help of Christians Catholic Church in St. Augusta.  Burial will be in the parish cemetery.  Sally died Thursday at the St. Benedicts Senior Community in St. Cloud.  Friends may gather after 9:30 AM Friday at the church in St. Augusta.  Arrangements are being made by the Miller-Carlin Funeral Home in St. Cloud.Sally was born September 26, 1932 in Rockville, MN to Michael and Mary (Schreifels) Reiter.  She grew up in Rockville and married Irving Smith on September 10, 1955 in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.  The couple moved to Webster WI until Irving’s death.  Sally then moved to St. Cloud and raised her two boys by herself.  She earned her GED at age 40 and then went on to the St. Cloud Business College to study Bookkeeping .  She worked as a bookkeeper at the Farm Service Company and she drove Taxi during the evenings.   She was also a gate keeper at Gussies.  Sally enjoyed reading, embroidery, word puzzles, watching movies; she had a great collection of old films, especially John Wayne.  She also designed and sewed her own clothes.  She was always a great listener and a had a wonderful smile.Sally is survived by her two sons, Thomas (Eva) Smith, Montana and John (Judy) Smith, MN.  She is also survived by her brothers, Joe Reiter, St. Augusta, Larry (Luke) Reiter, St. Augusta; Michael Reiter, Jr. New Brighton, 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother, Robert Reiter, and her sisters, Dorothy (Dodie) Wettstein, Veronica (Fronie) Matanowski, and Anne Paul.
