Age: 86 August 21, 1923 – January 06, 2010 SIDNEY W. LOEHLEINAugust 21, 1923 – January 6, 2010The mass of Christian Burial, celebrating the life of Sidney W. Loehlein, age 86 of Holdingford, will be at 11:00 AM Monday, January 11 at St Hedwigs Catholic Church in Holdingford.  Burial will be in the parish cemetery.  Sidney died at his home in Holdingford.  There will be a time for friends to gather from 4-8:00 PM Sunday at the Miller-Carlin-Brenny Funeral Home in Holdingford and again after 10:00 AM Monday at the church.  St. Hedwigs parish prayers will be at 6:00 PM and the Holdingford American Legion Post 211 will pray at 7:00 PM Sunday night at the funeral home.Sidney was born August 21, 1923 in Albany to Peter and Sophia (Young) Loehlein.  He grew up on the family farm in Arban.  Sid entered the U.S. Army in 1945, serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theater.  After his discharge in 1946, he returned to Holdingford.  He married Armella Kern on July 25, 1953 in Blue Grass, MN.  The couple farmed together on the family farm in Arban until 1963 when they moved into Holdingford.  Sid was known as the local handyman in the Holdingford area where his talents and skills were utilized, and appreciated by many.   From 1965 until he retired in 1985, he worked in the custodial department of the Holdingford School District.   Armella died on April 12, 1972 and he married Julia Ann Shabel.  She died on August 13, 1975.   Sid was a member of St. Hedwigs Catholic Church in Holdingford and the Holdingford American Legion Post 211.Sidney is survived by his children; Michelle (Gary) Wampler, Irvine, CA; Margaret Olson, St. Paul; Steve (Betty) Loehlein, St. Cloud; Mary (Steve) Loehlein-Thies, Chaska; Maretta (Ken) Johannes, Sartell; Melissa (Steve) Coborn, Richmond; his step children, Duane (Diane) Shable, Sartell, and Luann (Dale) Ebnet, Little Falls.  He is also survived by his sister and brothers, Florence (Frank) Hylla, Waite Park; Don (Geri) Loehlein, Eureka, MT; Alvin (Ruth) Loehlein, Waukesha, WI; David (Barb) Loehlein, Waite Park; 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. Sidney is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Armella, his wife, Julia Ann, and his son, Michael.
