Stephen Michael Murphy

Age: 74 July 14, 1944 – January 22, 2019 The Mass of Christian Burial, celebrating the life of Stephen M. Murphy, age 74 of St. Cloud, will be at 10:30 AM, Saturday, January 26 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud.  Stephen died Tuesday, January 22 at the St. Cloud Veterans Affairs Medical Center.  Visitation will be at the church beginning at 9:00 AM.  There will be a burial with full military honors on Monday, January 28 at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls. Stephen was born July 14, 1944 in Mount Vernon, NY to Michael and Anna (Wilchek) Murphy.  He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1965 until 1969.  Stephen married Joan Lewis on August 20, 1966 in White Plains, NY.  He became a Graphic Arts instructor at the Quincy Area Vocational Technical Center in Quincy, IL.  He and Joan moved to St. Cloud in 1988 and began working with Quebecor Printing.  He was a member of the St. Michael’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud, and a former member of the Quincy Knights of Columbus. Stephen is survived by his wife, Joan of 52 years; his children; Timothy Murphy, St. Cloud; Mary Kathryn (Michael) Jarcy, California; Colleen (Bradley) Kremer, Rice; his brother, Michael (Moan) Murphy, New York; and three grandsons, Rex, Dominic, and Patrick. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Elizabeth Mannix and Joan Scanlon, and brother, Sean Murphy.
